Permission must be obtained from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and a plaque must be hung at the entrance of the residence. For apartments, unanimous approval of the other owners is required to obtain a permit.
According to the new regulations, a fine of TRY 100,000 per dwelling unit and an obligation to obtain a permit within 15 days have been introduced for residential rentals under 100 days without a permit. If permission is not obtained and the rental continues, the penalty will increase. Permit holders will be penalized if they rent their dwellings to third parties. Websites that mediate unauthorized rentals must remove the advertisements within 24 hours; otherwise they will face high administrative fines. A large administrative fine will be imposed on those who rent out the same dwelling more than four times in a year for more than 100 days.
